Love Our Lurkers Day 8

LOL8d

Welcome to Love our Lurkers (LOL) day 8, the first LOL day in which I’ll be participating as a blogger. This is the day organized by Bonnie of My Bottom Smarts dedicated to our lurkers (or, as I prefer to think of them, our silent supporters), the vast majority of readers who stop by, read, and reflect without feeling the need to comment.  It’s been only a little over a year since I started commenting- never mind blogging- so this day provoked a little reflection. If someone had told me on last year’s LOL day that I would have a blog of my own this time around, I never would have believed them.

I read quietly for many years before I felt the urge and eventually worked up the nerve to start writing back, so I have a deep appreciation for my quiet readers.  Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you find something enjoyable or intriguing when you visit. Just knowing that you are out there helps all of us feel more normal.

If you do choose to leave a comment, today is an invitation to pop up to say hello.  To leave  comment with wordpress, you’ll need to enter a valid email address.  Although your e-mail will not be published and I will not share it with anyone without your explicit consent (and this is a community that has a sacred respect for consent), it is best practice to have an e-mail account separate from your primary “vanilla” account to use when discussing our mutual interest.

If you’d rather not comment yet but think you might do so in the future, choosing a name and setting up an email account using a free service (gmail or similar) is a good place to start. (Though I’d highly recommend ensuring your chosen name doesn’t happen to also be a car before you get too attached. . .not that that’s happened to anyone I know . . .) Enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with taking this step. Maybe you never need it and never log on again. Or maybe it is the first step in developing relationships with remarkable individuals from around the world.

  1. Silent supporters? What a great term! I often will read blogs and send silent support, but I can’t think of a comment to say or don’t feel that I have anything to add. I like your reframing of the idea. Oh, and look at that…I’m delurking on your blog. 🙂 Happy LOL Day!

    1. Welcome! I often feel the same way- unfortunately some of the posts I enjoy the most leave me with a feeling that I have nothing more to add. It took a bit of encouragement from a few close friends before I stated commenting, and I still don’t do it nearly enough.

  2. Happy LOL Day, Kia. This is a fun day and Bonnie does a great job organizing it. Congrats on this being your first one as a blogger; you make it all the more special with your participation. 🙂

  3. You mean Kia isn’t your real name?????? How dare you lie to us all like that. You know what this means. 🙂

    Happy LoL Day!

    1. Great to hear- seems DJ sent many readers my way. His blog is one of the ones that inspired me to start writing in the first place.

  5. Comment blocked- please keep in mind that this is an adult site. Any comments from or pertaining to minors will be removed.
